A refined second iteration of the AI Polaroid Camera, developed with a strong focus on system integration, reverse-engineering, and custom hardware and firmware development.

Similar to the first version, this camera is fully functional - it takes a photo, generates a description of the photo, and prints an image generated from the description. Check out an interactive demo of it here!
The second generation of the camera has a design change, simplifying to a single navigation knob and a more streamlined form. The internals were also designed into two trays for easier assembly and maintenance.
Custom PCBs were made and assembled on a hot plate. From left to right are the USB PCB, Main PCB that holds the Raspberry Pi, Power PCB to charge and discharge the battery, and the Power PCB on the hotplate.
A compliant slide latch was designed and 3D printed to hold the printer tray. Try the interactive demo below!
The camera prints with an off-the-shelf Bluetooth printer, and is attached to the removable tray for recharging and photo paper refilling.
